I received an unsolicited message from one of the scenes nicest guys and a legend in my eyes, which is better than any review I could pen myself (thank you Sir Ste Smith it means a lot to the team): Ashton under Lyne Ukraine club. Light touch paper stand back and whoosh. Having become a must not miss night for me , it never ceases to amaze me when you get back home and think OMG how good was tonight and how are they going to match it next time out. Impossible you think then more often than not it just kind of gets better ( don't know if the soul fairies sprinkle you with magic dust as you walk in or what but something magical happens ) and last night was as good as it gets and what a way to see out 2024. Everyone involved with the club should take a bow. You have something very very special. Thank you

Well we've had some Amazing nights this year at Ashton Ukrainian Club, what a way to round off an unbelievable year!! So many highlights to look back on! The room quickly filled up, within half an hour, every table in the main room was taken, thanks so much from everyone at Team Ukrainian for making this event what it is, an open minded audience, who show their appreciation on the dance floor!! Lots of new faces last night and great to see the Shropshire Posse in full effect! Phil Dunn played an accomplished opening set to set the mood for the night!! Natalie Nicholls followed with a power house selection all aimed firmly at the dance floor(how it should be) It was a pleasure for me to follow on, as Darren Carroll said a good old mix up of styles and tempos, I'll post a playlist later!! Dean Anderson followed Soul Fay Bo Fowler "upper hand" Hayes Cotton "Black Wings" alternate take, loved it!! December 24 Ashton Video.mp4 Alan Jenkins followed and WOW!! mind blowing selection of Rare Soul Two+Two, Eddie Billups, Del Tours and many many more. The dance floor loved it, see attached video!! We finished the night with a double deck session from Chris Churm + Simon Ingham to end the night in fine style Keith + Billie "tastes sour" Paris, Ty Karim "you really made it good" Ralph Graham "she just sits there" the icing on the cake!!! We're already planning for 2025 watch this space!! Once again thanks so much to our loyal supporters, have a great Christmas and we'll catch you in the New Year!! PS thanks to our amazing bar staff and for Rowena Ribena Morgan arranging a well deserved collection!! Team Ukrainian !!

Ashton Ukrainian club; it doesn’t’ take much to go from a guaranteed good night to a fabulous night at this magical venue. Last night, the stars aligned, and the soul gods were smiling, and a terrific night ensued. We arrived early to ensure we got a seat, just as well since the venue filled up quickly. Phil Dunn doing sterling job warming up the crowd with some familiar sounds, Deana Barnes and Channel 3, completing an accomplished set to the magic that is Terry Callier. Natalie Nicholls graced the decks next, with set designed to keep the dance floor happy. Starting with the Tempests, followed by Barbara Lynn ‘I’m a Good Woman’ Garnett Mimms, Sam fletcher and Sam Dees. Mick Howard next, always has a top mix of great tunes, including, jimmy Seals, George Kirby and The Innersection ‘Let me Love You ‘. And a favourite dancer by the brilliant Hesitations ‘That’s what Love is” The legendary Dean Anderson followed with an eclectic mix of lesser played tunes. The Fabulous Peps 'Gypsy Woman', the best version for me. The Venturas, Keith and Billie’s take on ‘Taste Sour Don’t it’. I’m sure I heard an instrumental version of Jean Wells ‘With My Love and What You’ve got’ whilst at the bar, I would have liked to have danced to that. Completing the set with a lesser-known tune from The T.S.U Toronados ‘Only Inside’. Lost for words on Alan Jenkins, don’t think I’ve heard so many big tunes in one set. I kept looking around expecting to see Securicor waiting in the wings to take his record box back to the van. He kicked off with the Tamangoes, followed by William Powell, Hamilton Movement, Del-Larks, Lester Tipton and Don Gardner to name a few. Brand New Faces got a particularly good reception on the dance floor, I’m sure some got up thinking it was going to be Jimmy Burns Chris and Simon double decked for the final hour. Simon kicking of with a trio of The Temptations tracks. Followed by some big crowd pleasers including Troy Dodds, Paris, Walter and Admerations and the Volumes ‘Ain’t Gonna Give You up’. A great set and fabulous evening, ending with Chris playing Ralph Graham. Thanks to Chris and team for a great year at the Ukrainian club. A special shout out to the bar staff. This night felt like Santa had arrived with all the best tunes, ensuring we all went home smiling and with fond memories. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year.

Wow, wow, wow. What a night at Ashton! Just when you don't think it couldn't get any better it did. I can't get bored at Ashton because there is always an education to be had. There is an atmosphere there that you can't bottle or get anywhere else IMHO. One of the best points is that none of the DJs or those that run it have an ego, they know it's about the wooden square thing in front of them. Well-done to all those who run it, great year with a crescendo in December. See you next year.

Great venue great music but most of all the amount of real proper like minded folk be treat to the records played was unreal. Top night and good to catch up with a few old mate and new ones. Best club for me in the North of England that without a bought. I special as for the staff they are unreal and volunteers to stand serving us. The amount of djs and quality has been 1st class hats off to them all bring on the new year

This weeks adventure was to Kidsgrove and to be honest it was a great choice. We had been told that it was a go to event by a friend who attended the previous event, and they were spot on. As soon as we landed the venue had as promised a fantastic floor that didn't require any enhancing. The music was a mix of rare, underplayed and some top 500, along with some R & B, with all the DJs making their contributions to keep the floor occupied. If you want to go to an event that offers a variety of music then I strongly suggest that you give Kidsgrove a try

Always a real pleasure to be back at Cinderford Miners hall -a proper venue with a really huge & decent wood dance floor. A great sound set up, a cheap bar and the right sort of appreciative crowd with ears open to the new & the old, the over heard & underhand. Long may it continue.

No soul event I have ever been to deserves less than 5 stars, if i could give this one ten i would , the amount of unseen work that goes on by promoters, financial risks , investment in equipment , preparation by the staff , D J'S with their collection of records , & travelling miles to entertain. Much appreciated by me . This is my effort, brothers & sisters lend me your eyes . Day began with a flat tyre ,bugger! It's 11am I'm on a tight schedule, local garage sorts me out , to the cafe for a full English, black pudding, fried bread, don't need to ask they know what I want ! Park & ride tram , it's rammed, I'm heading to Forest v Ipswich, City is packed with shoppers etc, supporters club for couple of guiness zeros. Scappy game we win 1 nil . Back on tram I tell ya sardines get more room ! Call at chippy on way to the Mansfield Rd , then on to the notorious A614, the weather is good for driving, arrive at the Innings just after 7pm. First time here good looking room , I know a lot of the faces, friendly welcome especially by Birthday boy Billy . So , let the dancing begin & boy just about everyone here his a good dancer , proper vibe , proper respecting each others space . Had a bit of a disaster went for a pee & the zip broke on my trousers so had to wear my tee shirt out to cover my potential embarrassment! Lot of talc used , not my liking , bit slippy at times . Good mix of northern anthems & r & b . R & B popular with regulars . I left 11 . 20 pm swiftly out the door i don't do long goodbyes . Brilliant event ,Brilliant day . Don't ever stop keeping on xx
