Niters you wish you had been able to go to!!!
Greedy replied to Greedy's topic in All About the SOUL
Sorry I didn't realise that the Mecca wasn't a niter, my apologies for getting it wrong. -
I was born in 1965 , was lucky enough to go to the casino a few times, although preferred the Saturday nights with Richard and Gary playing sounds that were new to me. Either new releases or sounds I didn't know.. Rather than the Friday night oldies allnighters .. Then was lucky to go to so many niters all over the country. My fave 3 are Oddfellows Stafford Leighton Buzzard ( just for the tables) lol then so many to mention in no particular order Cleethorpes winter gardens, morecambe pier , rock city, bradford, 100 club Peterborough,Blackburn, Loughborough, queen's hall, St Ives. Plus many more I haven't listed.. Then after being married and having children etc I got back into niters and then Rugby, Coalville, Ibstock, Blackhearts, Sheffield, Dark horses etc I know that I wasn't old enough to go to Blackpool mecca, the torch, but the one place I wish I'd been old enough to attend was the Talk of the North niters at Cleethorpes pier. Which if any do you wish you had been able to attend??

Very sad news. Great bloke & Great dj. Condolences to his family and close friends . Another one gone too soon to that big allnighter in the sky. R I P. Phil x x

Up until recently I could be a grumpy old Victor Mildred. But since being told I have a fatal disease, I don't give a f##k anymore and try to be positive and make someone smile with my weird/sick sense of humour. Life is short and very very precious. Do what you can do to make you and everyone else smile.. Don't forget a stationery store never moves And a poorly octopus costs six quid And I went to see a psychotherapist but the sign on his door was very narrow and said Psycho The Rapist. Ps only a play on words , not to upset anyone
-
Thanks for this will go lidl on way home tomorrow. . Ps don't forget to flip hold on as working on your case is the flip . My favourite ojays record
-
Sorry I was being facetious, I have loads on Grapevine, And along side the Grapevine singles I have the 3 albums which have great records on them... was just taking the Michael out of wigan ovation ...
-
Pete, What do you mean about the awful records played at that time?? I can only dream of hearing these played again . As for the rarest version of wigans chosen few. Makes Frank Wilson look cheap.
-
Hi not had any dealings with this company but have had 3 gold warranties with ford on my last 2 cars. Not the cheapest but in 1st year of having my st they replaced water pump, then my egr valve along with dpf filter with no cost to me have just renewed it as the last 2 times I've had it I have recouped the costs, About 10 years ago ago I had same cover with my mondeo st and it more than paid for itself. Just had to have car serviced properly.

I totally agree with no phones but what I do miss is taking a camera to a niter with either a 24 or 36 shot film.. then sending them off to be developed and seeing how many got censored by the developers.. and seeing which of your friends had the biggest eyes 👁👁or who were gurning the most
-
I hope you don't mean in a negative way. And that you over indulged like all of us.
-
This makes a lot of sense . So maybe what I am thinking of
-
The only thing I remember about this corridor is that it was almost pitch black.. too dark for record dealers and unless someone had a lit cigarette you didn't see them and stumbled over their legs. The only reason I think it was Peterborough is I think after apologising for falling over their legs we got talking about what was being played and they said they had a 12" version of lew Kirkton heaven in the afternoon for sale and we went for a drive in the middle of the night to get it . Well it was only a fiver
-
Definitely not Oddfellows as I'm a Leicester soulie born and bread lol. Someone else has suggested st Ives?? It's over 40 years ago of very messy times so this could be a long time sorting out ps my eyes in the 80s
-
Can anyone help me with this. Which venue Wirrana or Fleet had the almost unlit corridor between the two rooms where the trip hazard was the people sat down verballing. Or cause of being messy am I thinking of somewhere completely different?
-
I bought my black UK issue from hmv Leicester in 1980 for 50p.. at the time as a 15 year old I loved it.. but post 82 with Leicester, Stafford, and every where else where I heard records that opened my ears to so many awesome records I haven't played it for over 40 plus years . Yes it is a good record but when someone is dancing in a kitchen with a box of eggs along to it (HAPPY EGGS) , it's time has passed on.
-
First time I came across this was at the rugby niters. It's a great way to speak to someone who you might like. Ask to borrow their fan to cool down with whilst chatting away.. my only problem was that I was so messed up as normal I forgot who I'd been talking to .
-
I often look at this issue and more than worrying about the niter scene I worry about my two sons. As a father of twins we used talc all the time in the early 90s and I hope it hasn't caused any long term problems. Probably won't know until I have long gone

Not seen for ages. But love and best wishes, greedy mick. X

Greedy replied to Speedlimit's topic in All About the SOUL
The only appointments I get now is to my heart specialist or cardiologist lol -
Aurora alerts going through the roof for tonight.
Greedy replied to Woodbutcher's topic in Freebasing
Is there a particular time that is best to look and is it true that although it might not be visible to the human eye if you use camera on your phone it might pick it up? Or is this media rubbish?? Thanks Mick -
Not been on Renfe for a few years but last time I bought tickets at the station and was told to activate the tickets at a machine on platform before boarding.. don't know if you still have to Mick

John Manship Auction results 2nd October 2024.
Greedy replied to Woodbutcher's topic in All About the SOUL
Was so gutted.. was bidding on the naturals dont just stand there and was top bidder until I had my GP appointment regarding my heart medications. Which over ran and by the time I got out it was finished. I'm trying to decide if medications or records are more important 50 50 at the moment lol Couldn't say to GP. Give me a few minutes I need to bid on a 45 I've been looking for ages -
It's almost 50 years so thanks mate

Hi Peter. Sorry but don't remember this. But have very vague memories of soul nights. So could be the same. But I sort of remember a shop which had boxes of northern at the back. It was on Victoria Avenue. If my screen shot is wrong please let me know Best regards mick
